Spring (break) is in the air

Have a safe and happy spring break, whether you’re headed to the beach, working on a public service project, hanging out at home or catching up on work and taking advantage of the primo parking spaces around campus this week.

My blog will resume next Monday, March 26.

New report examines challenges facing Illinois

Service is a cornerstone of our mission, using our vast expertise to help Illinois prosper and repay our citizens for the generous support that has made the U of I one of the world’s most distinguished universities.

Our just-released Illinois Report 2012 is a perfect example.

Produced by the Institute of Government and Public Affairs, the report provides informed, non-partisan research and analysis from faculty experts to help guide policymakers as they work to solve the state’s toughest challenges.

This year’s sixth annual report covers a host of critical public policy issues, including the state’s ongoing budget crisis, public pension reform, and the long-term impact of a shift that has seen the Illinois Latino population grow by 33 percent over the last decade. The full report is available on the IGPA website (http://igpa.uillinois.edu/IR12/)

My thanks to our distinguished IGPA team and the experts from our three campuses who share their talents to help lead Illinois to a new era of growth, achievement and progress.
